Our Origin Story

Finding Inspiration From Our Past

San Marco Trading Co. and Tri|Five Travel were born from a deep-rooted connection to San Marco dei Cavoti, Italy, the ancestral home of the founder’s great-grandfather, Giovanni Petroccia, who left for New York in 1916 in pursuit of the American dream.
In 2019, the Petroccia family returned to San Marco, an experience that profoundly impacted them, especially the founder, who felt an unexpectedly strong connection to the town and its people. This reconnection was so profound that nine family members applied for Italian citizenship through the Roots 2024 and Jure Sanguinis initiatives.

What we do

Rediscovering our heritage sparked a passion for helping others experience authentic Italian communities while addressing the challenges small towns face, such as population decline, economic shifts and traditional knowledge atrophy.

Inspired by this realization, San Marco Trading Co. and Tri|Five Travel were founded to bridge Italy and the U.S., connecting American businesses, International travelers, and Italian Artisans and Producers. Through conscious business and tourism, these companies aim to foster meaningful relationships between Italian manufacturers, producers, and U.S. businesses, ensuring that highly sought after Italian goods and unique travel experiences reach a global audience.

More than a business, this mission serves as a bridge between past and present, heritage and opportunity, all built on one family’s journey of rediscovering their roots and finding purpose in preserving and sharing Italy’s hidden gems.
